my version of Penang Food Trail

I named last 2 weekend as Penang Food Trail. My dad was in town till Wednesday and of course, I'll bring him to eat all nice food available here in Penang. Most of the place is actually gerai, rather than grand restaurant, but I tell you, the yummiest food usually come from lousiest kitchen. =D

My food tour started at Sushi King on Friday. I was working in Penang, island since last week so I joined Najah and the gang for lunch. Kalau duduk Kulim tak ade nye nak lunch kat shopping complex bagai.



In the evening, my abah arrived from KL. I fetched him at Penang Airport and we headed to the famous Permatang Pauh's Char Kuey Teow High Way. My abah didn’t fancy Kueh Teow at all, so he ate Nasi Lemak Bungkus and tapau Satay for a supper with his son-in-law. Once my plate of Char Kuey Teow arrived, I asked him to taste a little bit, and telling him that he should try Penang Food while in Penang. He did taste it and amazed by it's marvelous taste. Terus order sepinggan, makan sampai licin. Maka, berhasratlah dia menyuruh anak-anaknya mencuba resepi ini sampai berjaya supaya dapat membuka gerai Char Kuey Teow di Kuching sana. Sampai begitu sekali,  I tell you!

On Saturday morning, I prepared Fried Fettuccini and Beef Bolognese Spaghetti for breakfast and we ate at Restoran Awet Muda yang depan USM tu for lunch. I reviewed it before. Kali ni, gulai rusa dan sup tulang lembu yang super sedap, dan semangkuk sotong goreng tepung. Nyum-nyum.




Selesai urusan di Penang, we all headed to the North, to meet my sisters and brother there. Apa lagi, malamnya Ikan Bakar Kuala Perlis la! Sedap gila Ikan Jenahak rupanya, selama ni makan ikan siakap semata, lepas malam tu baru tahu Jenahak lagi sedap. Sebab kami tak order nasi, we all ratah-ratah segala seafood yang di side order, Ketam Betina Masak Rempah (highly recommended!) , Metarang Masak Asam (Untuk penggemar siput laut sahaja, saya bukan), Kerang Bakar, dan Tomyam Seafood. Macam ada yang tertinggal, but total is less than MYR 100. Sungguh berbaloi.




Esok nya, kami berada di Kulim untuk menikmati makanan di Kulim pulak. Breakfast Brunch simple je, roti canai and pulut kuning da rendang dagi dari Restoran Mutiara Junjung, Cendol Kacang Merah Extra dan air kelapa di tengah hari. Malamnya kami ke Puncak Mutiara Kampung Pelet and my dad saaaaaangattttt suka tempat makan kambing ni. Ya, I found out they HAVE upgraded their service and delicacies, much better this time and memang worth it la makan jauh-jauh ke situ. We had the famous Nasi Briyani Peha Kambing, Sup Tulang with Benggali Bread, Kambing Grilled and Grilled Ostrich. It was my first time eating daging burung unta, manis tapi agak liat berbanding daging-daging lain di situ. Tapi still, okay lagi, much better kalo daging salah potong ikut urat dan dimasak. Get what I mean ka?







On Monday, as abah have to attend electronic seminar in Penang, we had our lunch together. Now, we went to Nasi Kenduri in Georgetown, the heart of Penang. Kalau agak-agak dah lama tak diundang p kenduri tu, dan rasa mengidam nak makan nasik kenduri, mai la sini. Meleh air liuq kang. Sedap tersangat!

As for Tuesday, we had our lunch at Kapitan Keling, enjoying Chicken and Beef Briyani, fresh from the oven.

On Wednesday, after sending my abah to the airport, I have a dinner with my ex-group, a farewell to be exact. Sponsored by the big big big boss, we chose Shangri-La Rasa Sayang for the big feast. Spice Market offered a seafood dinner buffet at MYR 132 per head exclusive the tax. Quite reasonable as they offered variety of food from Local Malaysia Cuisine, Japanese, Italian, American and all the food over the world. It's just like you've gone to a few countries for dining in one night.

I didn't take any photos even my LX3 is shouting from my handbag to start his action. Malu sebab we just dine in for 8 pax, and duduk sebelah big big big big boss from US. BIG here means size and job tittle. =p Makan pun tak banyak, sebab malu nak bangun pegi meja buffet banyak-banyak kali. rugi la!

Yang paling sedap is that yabbies and white chocolate truffles. Sumpah teringat-ingat sampai sekarang~ Mana nak cari???  They said here's the best international dinner buffet in town. yaaaa, with that price

P/s: Another big feast on Monday at EnO Hotel. This time would be an English breakfast buffet and International buffet lunch! Can't wait!

awet muda dlm seminggu mesti 2,3 kali g mkn lunch kat ctu...hehe...ikan jenahak memang best kalo bakar lg best..bnyk isi n manis... :)
